The History of Ledgers Canada

1994

Ledgers is conceptualized by a team of Professional Accountants in Sydney NS when the need for consistent, professional and affordable bookkeeping services is recognized. After a preliminary investigation, it was realized that the small business market struggled to afford the services available from the 'Big Firms', and the skills of the local 'bookkeeper' were inadequate.

The idea of high-quality, affordable bookkeeping services is born.

1997

After 2 years of development, the first Ledgers franchise is awarded to Terry Bachmann in Moncton NB. Terry was instrumental in developing the marketing models, policies and procedures; some we still utilize today.

2000

In November of 2000, Ledgers is acquired by the current owner and moved to

Newmarket Ontario, where they still reside.

2005

We began re-branding, redesigned the logo, website and marketing materials.

We became 'Ledgers Professional Services' as the name Ledgers Professional Bookkeeping was too singular and did not reflect the suite of services we offered. 

There are now 10 Franchise locations and Brand Awareness is increasing.

2008

Our 25th Franchise location is awarded.

Our SureStart Program is created.

The National Accounts Program is created.

2015

Fully adopted Cloud Based Technology with QuickBooks Online through our Partnership with Intuit.

Began looking at other cloud technology solutions to improve our service and efficiency

The Central Processing System was conceptualized

2019

Our 25th Anniversary year.

Central Processing has grown exponentially and is one of the key factors of our success; our franchises can process more client information in the same amount of time.

2022

COVID Proves the value of the Ledgers Cloud-Based systems.  Our revenues are growing exponentially as businesses realize the need for bookkeepers that can process information from a remote environment.  

We are feature in Made in CA magazine

2023

The Ledgers Network adds 6 new locations, revenue growth is unprecedented across the franchise network.

2024

From small businesses to mid-sized corporations, Ledgers Canada has been a constant beacon of expertise, reliability, and innovation in the accounting and tax services industry.

2025

Central Processing Moving to New Location


The growth of our Central Processing System has been incredible!  We are now in the process of building an entire new facility to accommodate our growth.


This facility will also be used for hands-on new franchise and employee training.
